Helios House Press is honoured to present a beautiful, original version of Euripides’ play Alcestis as interpreted by Sonia H.G. Lovecraft & H.P. Lovecraft.
First premiered in 438 B.C., Alcestis is a classic Athenian tragedy of sacrifice, love, and loss. Mr. & Mrs. Lovecraft’s extension of this Greek masterpiece adds an entirely original prologue authored by the pair, presented alongside their chosen interpretation of the body of the play.
Whilst a very limited, holograph (facsimile of hand-written pages) edition was produced in 1985, the play has never been published in a complete form—until now. Sympathetically edited by N.R. Jenzen-Jones, Alcestis: A Play is being printed on high-quality paper stock using heritage printing techniques by a small, family-owned printer in Scotland.
Hand-bound with a pamphlet stitch in contrasting purple thread, this unique edition is strictly limited to 500 copies.
